ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 2003 PRIZES FOR ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN Revista Española de Cardiología

PRIZES AWARDED BY THE SPANISH SOCIETY OF CARDIOLOGY FOR THE BEST ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN Revista Española de Eardiología

Amount: 12 000 €.

Conditions:

1. The aim of these prizes is to encourage the

publication in Revista Española de Cardiología of high-quality original articles.

2. The awards will consist of a First Prize (6000 euros) and two Honorable Mentions (3000 euros each).

3. The prizes will be awarded annually and

under no circumstances will be declared void.

4. All Original Articles published in Revista Española de Cardiología during 2002 will be eligible. Editorials, Special Articles and Reviews will not be eligible.

5. The Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors of Revista Española de Cardiología, in consultation with

the President and Scientific Sections of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, will select the six articles published in 2002 that they consider the most outstanding.

6. The three winning articles will be selected by a jury

presided by the Vice President of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and consisting of the Editor-in-Chief and the members of the jury constituted to award the Spanish Society of Cardiology scholarships and prizes. Their decision will be final.

7. The prizes will be awarded during a ceremony to be held at the Congreso de las Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (XXXIX Congreso Nacional de la SEC) (Cardiovascular Disease Congress, 34th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Cardiology), which will take place in Seville on October 15 to 18, 2003.


PRIZES AWARDED BY THE SPANISH SOCIETY OF CARDIOLOGY FOR ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN Revista Española de Eardiología WITH THE GREATEST INTERNATIONAL IMPACT

Amount: 24 000 €

Conditions:

1. The aim of these prizes is to encourage the publication in Revista Española de Cardiología of original articles with a significant medium- and long-term impact or repercussion in the international scientific community.

2. The awards will consist of a prize of 6000 euros and two honorable mentions of 3000 euros each for articles with the greatest long-term repercussion, and a prize of 6000 euros and two honorable mentions of 3000 euros each for articles with the greatest medium-term repercussion.

3. The prizes will be awarded annually and under no circumstances will be declared void.

4. All Original Articles published in Revista Española de Cardiología will be eligible. Editorials, Special Articles and Reviews will not be eligible.

5. The repercussion of the published articles will be measured as the number of citations each article published in Revista Española de Cardiología receives in journals indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded.

6. The prize for the article with the greatest long-term international repercussion will be awarded by determining all citations received by each article published in the journal in 1997 during the years 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. The prize for the article with the greatest medium-term international repercussion will be awarded by determining all citations received by each article published in the journal in 2000 during the years 2001 and 2002.

7. Citations received by each article will be counted by an independent panel which will issue an annual report. This panel will have no formal connection with the journal or the Spanish Society of Cardiology.

8. The prizes will be awarded during a ceremony to be held at the Congreso de las Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (XXXIX Congreso Nacional de la SEC), which will take place in Seville on October 15 to 18, 2003.


PRIZE AWARDED BY THE PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY AND CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS SECTION OF THE SPANISH SOCIETY OF CARDIOLOGY

Amount: 1803.04 €.

Conditions:

1. The amount of the award is 1803.04 euros.

2. All Original Articles on topics related with pediatric cardiology and congenital heart defects published in Revista Española de Cardiología (volume 55, 2002, issues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12) will be eligible.

3. The panel that will evaluate the articles will consist of the President and Secretary of the Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Defects Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and by the Editor-in-Chief of Revista Española de Cardiología.

4. The prize will be awarded during a ceremony to be held at the Congreso de las Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (XXXIX Congreso Nacional de la SEC), which will take place in Seville on October 15 to 18, 2003.


XIV IZASA PRIZES FOR THE BEST PUBLICATIONS ON INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGY IN Revista Española de Eardiología

Amount: 2500 €.

Conditions:

1. The Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology announces the IZASA Prizes for articles published on interventional cardiology in Revista Española de Cardiología.

2. Members of the Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Section who were first authors of articles reporting studies carried out mainly in Spain and published in Revista Española de Cardiología will be eligible.

3. Articles published since the previous congress of the

Spanish Society of Cardiology will be eligible.

4. La amounts of the awards are as follows:

a) First Prize: 1500 euros.

b) Second Prize: 1000 euros.

5. The jury will consist of two members of the Executive Committee of the Section, two members of the Section chosen by random draw, and the Editor-in-Chief of Revista Española de Cardiología.

6. The prizes will be awarded during the opening ceremony of the Congreso de las Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (XXXIX Congreso Nacional de la SEC), which will take place in Seville on October 15 to 18, 2003.

7. The prizes will be declared void if, in the opinion of the jury, no suitable articles can be identified. The jury´s decision will be final.


IV AMERSHAM HEALTH PRIZE FOR THE BEST PUBLICATION ON NUCLEAR CARDIOLOGY IN Revista Española de Eardiología

The Working Group on Nuclear Cardiology of the Spanish Society of Cardiology aims to foment research in Nuclear Cardiology and encourage authors to publish their results in Revista Española de Cardiología.

Amount: 2000 €.

Conditions:

1. All Original Articles on topics related with nuclear cardiology published in Revista Española de Cardiología (volume 55, 2002, issues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12) will be eligible.

2. Authors who do not wish their article published in this volume to be considered for this prize must submit notification of their decision in advance.

3. The prize will be awarded annually and under no circumstances will be declared void.

4. The Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors of

Revista Española de Cardiología, in consultation with the President of the Working Group on Nuclear Cardiology, will select the three articles published in 2002 that they consider the most outstanding.

5. The jury will consist of the Vice President of the

PROCHE PRIZE FOR THE BEST ARTICLE ON HEART FAILURE PUBLISHED IN REVISTA ESPAÑOLA DE CARDIOLOGÍA

Amount: 6010.12 €.

Conditions:

1. A prize of 6010.12 euros will be awarded for articles published in Revista Española de Cardiología dealing mainly with heat failure.

2. The Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors of Revista Española de Cardiología will select articles considered outstanding on the basis of their novelty or originality. Articles that report innovations in the treatment, follow-up, overall view or epidemiology of heart failure will also be considered.

3. The jury will be presided by the Vice President of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, and will consist of the Editor-in-Chief and members of the jury constituted to award Spanish Society of Cardiology scholarships and prizes. Their decision will be final. The prize will be declared void if, in the opinion of the jury, no suitable article can be identified. Under these circumstances the prize money will not accumulate until the following year.

4. The prize will be awarded during a ceremony to be held at the Congreso de las Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (XXXIX Congreso Nacional de la SEC), which will take place in Seville on October 15 to 18, 2003.


PRIZES AWARDED BY THE HYPERTENSION SECTION OF THE SPANISH SOCIETY OF CARDIOLOGY FOR THE BEST ARTICLES
ON HYPERTENSION PUBLISHED IN Revista Española de Cardiología

Amount: 4500 €.

The Hypertension Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology aims to foment research in hypertension and encourage authors to publish their results in Revista Española de Cardiología.

To this end a First Prize worth 3000 euros and an Honorable Mention worth 1500 euros will be awarded for the best articles on hypertension published during the years 2001 and 2002 in Revista Española de Cardiología.

Conditions:

1. All Original Articles published on topics relating to hypertension in Revista Española de Cardiología during the years 2001 and 2002 will be eligible.

2. The prize will be awarded annually.

3. The jury will consist of the President and Secretary of the Hypertension Section, and the Editor-in-Chief of Revista Española de Cardiología. Their decision will be final.

4. The prize will be awarded during the opening ceremony of the Congreso de las Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (XXXIX Congreso Nacional de la SEC), which will take place in Seville on October 15 to 18, 2003.
